I do not support the development if a bionic person. First and foremost because I feel like we
have societal problems that could be served better by having energy and
resources directed toward them. I don’t see the benefit to the greater good of
creating a bionic person. I would prefer that we try to become a more peaceful species
and organize ourselves better instead of trying to create a simplified version
of ourselves that we can control and perfect.
Secondly, have you ever engaged in science fiction? I don’t
claim to be a sci-fi nerd, but if there are any out there, please give me an
example of a storyline that shows that a bionic person in the end is a great
boon to society. All I have ever read or watched always leads back to our need
to get in touch with our humanity.
Along the same lines, the use of a bionic person for
military purposes absolutely does not change my view. I don’t see how trading robots for humans
solves any of the issues associated with war. We need to put money and time
into creating strategies for coexistence and better resource management rather
than war machines!
