The equation e=mc2 has affected me by illuminating
experiences that I have had with Vipassana meditation when I begin to perceive the energy
of units of smaller and smaller mass. I appreciate that this formula
demonstrates how much energy is contained in even the smallest amount of mass.
I compare the four forces by the ways in which they shape
our world. The strong nuclear force holds protons together to form the nucleus
of atoms; it is also responsible for the force of nuclear reactions. The weak
nuclear force attracts electrons to the atom and is responsible for radioactive
decay. The electromagnetic force is what holds atoms together to shape and
harden the physical objects we touch including ourselves). Gravity attracts objects
to each other and is responsible for the tides, which help shape the surface of
our planet. Our physiology is shaped by the force of gravity. The length of our
rotation around the sun is dictated by gravity.
